I've been having trouble with trying to open certain files on my computer, but 2 weeks ago, there were no problems for the same files (but I now have some new ones that I'm having trouble with too.

I'm running Windows XP Professional (version 2002) SP-3 with Norton 360 and I use Google Chrome.

My specific problem is that I can't launch "Microsoft Games For Windows" client so that I can download/install "Age Of Empires Online". Also, I can not open up "Controls IDT Audio Setting" from the taskbar, but I can from the control panel?? I get the message "Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item." for both files, and some other various ones that seem to have no correlation to each other.

I have looked online and have found no solutions that work, can anyone help?

If you haven't solved it yet, as a test, try right clicking on the program and choose "Run as...". Then select Administrator, and see if it runs.
