When I try to open a pdf file in adobe reader 9.0 I get the following message-

'C:\Program files\Adobe\Reader 9.0\Reader\Eula.exe' at the top of the error message and

'Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permission to access the item'

I have gotten a similar response with other programs on occasion. This has occurred in the last month.

    Win XP SP3
    FF 3.6
    Comodo Firewall
    Avira Antivirus

Have you ruled out malware before continuing to see if it a software issue?

Take a look at this sticky in the malware forum

Does the Eula.exe exist in the location stated?

I reinstalled Adobe, then tried foxit reader. All I got was that I cannot access specified device. I contacted both companies but neither can satisfactorily fix problem.
