Hey ppl I am new to this and it would be great if u can help me.

I have a problem whenever i try to run a program that is zipped. An error msg pops up: Windows cannot find 'C:\DOCUME\User\Locals\Temp\program name.exe'. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again. To search for a file, click the start button and then click search.

    I have 2 hard disks: Hitachi deskstar 41.1 gb('C') and Western Digital 160.0 gb('E')
    Microsoft Windows XP Professional SP2
    Intel Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.80GHZ,
    1.00GB of RAM

Help me with this problem plsssssss:S

Extract the program from the zipped file first, so the computer can read the .exe file. If you go to where the zipped file is using Windows Explorer, right click on it and choose "Extract All".

Have you tried uninstalling the program and running a cleaner like CCleaner, rebooting and then reinstall the software app again? What program are we dealing with here?

Windows uses a .dll file to handle the zipping and unzipping of files. It's called zipfldr.dll and by default is located in the system32 folder (usually found here: C:\Windows\System32\zipfldr.dll - it's the last file in the system32 folder). If this file has become corrupt or the .dll has been unregistered, you can run into problems. Try this:
Reregister zipfldr.dll. To do so, click Start, click Run, type cmd for the command prompt and press [Enter]. When it opens, type:
regsvr32 c:\windows\system32\zipfldr.dll and press [Enter]. You should see a Regsvr32 dialog box that says "DllRegisterServer in c:\windows\system32\zipfldr.dll succeeded."
If this doesn't help, you could always install a 3rd party utility like TUGZip http://www.majorgeeks.com/TUGZip_d4670.html but that really doesn't fix the problem, it just works around it.... anyway, let us know how it goes.... I could always upload the .dll file if yours is missing or corrupt... good luck! And welcome to MajorGeeks! :major

A workaround is not how we do things here. While yes, 7zip is nice, we do not ignore broken parts of the operating system by replacing it with 3rd party apps. In addition, you should support the website that is so graciously providing you this forum, free of charge by pointing to them for download links.
