"windows cannot find http etc"

Help before I toss PC out window,,, All programs working OK but this horror. Hve run all sorts of maleware, reset and reloaded drivers, even switched eather net cards from other PC on router, and still does same ole "cannot find" etc.
Here are gruesome details.. not real sharp on the net hookups, network etc.. but this one baffles me, ran every type of test I can find.. perhaps more then needed follows..but desperate...
Have lost the net/email. When try to go on line message is "Windows cannot find http" etc. Router is four place, two other machines on it working fine, The PC that will NOT go online is NOT put on line while others are running. PC was one of two in local network. XP HOME. I just did "Repaired" by XP. I did this in hopes what was wrong would be fixed. NOW at XP Sp1 status as cannot connect to SP updates. There WAS a virus before, something kept firing up MS Installing Scan which went off anytime you tried to run anything, more so to connect to net. Did some virus searches and killed a few that turned up, now that has gone away, but had to hunt down some that seemed to have come in with "repair".
TECH SIDE OF ISSUE IS.
Current status is PC is offline, cannot get to net or email. All offline programs work fine. NOTE PC gets VERY slow when I try shortcuts to net or t-bird for mail.. Mention this a very odd as REALLY bogs down then and only then.
Task manager window on network. Shows a .2% hit when trying to go online, about same for ping.
Attempt to go online, get messages
"Firefox can't find server at en-us-start3.moziilla.com"
T bird no mail states "Failed to connect to server at our mail site. en.us.www.mozilla etc etc"

Network adapter
Shows local area connection 10mbs connectivity
Has "address hard wired in as PC will NOT find address under automatic,
ISP confirms address nrs correct but is NO help on solutions.
Driver on card up to date, even switched ethernet card from working machine to prove HW was OK.
Ping results are
Address ping 192.168.2.100 Ping request now at 4 out, 4 back 128 ms
Preferred DNS Server 64 eetc time out. stats were sent =4 received =0
Pint computer (name) send 4 received 4 128 ms
Stats are for 192.168.2.100 and TTL=128
Nslookup is "timed out" etc "cannot find server name" for address
for both prime and secondary,
"Default severs are not available, Default server unknown"
Pings OK to 127.0.0.1
Ipconfig is Server Unknown 64.53 ete
Same if going for google (which offers ping)
ANY IDEAS here. Somethying seems to NOT be connecting while cared is connecting to router, Router works fine with other PCs., can take cable from operating one and plug it into the obviously possessed by devil PC.. and zero.
his thing went down with what seemed to be a MS INSTALL SCAN virus but NEVER found it.. got rid of some malware, got rid of MS install (AKA msiexec.exe) issue as worked over registry.. but this is there now.
NO firewalls up ALL Antivirus removed.
Now stuck at SP home sp1 as cannot get on line for updates.
ANY data from bad PC must be put on CD and then run on this machine, as this one is online., NOTE to test PC I simply unplug the DSL line from bad machine and plug it in on this VERY old (1998) WIN98 machine and ALL works fine. has to be a SW issue. Not to good at the network. LAN etc, so need some help in this one. NOW seems something screwed up the net do it’s thing systems and not a clue where as HW seems fine and tests out OK! sooooooooo?????
Note am running Network adapter Icons and they seem to flash in and out on start up and say connectivity is just great... but?????
LESSON LEARNED
Does make the case for not tossing the old clunker out when you get a new one as this old 300htz cpu closet queen is working OK, a bit slow but does work.

1. All steps that could be run were done. Only Malware and SuperAnti ran. The others had issues
A. Root repeal would "initialize" then vanished, four tries and quit it.
B. Mtools would not load,.
C. Combofix started and warned"Comodo firewall is running, shut it down, damage could result etc. Shut it down
NOTE All Comodo has been removed, files and registry even down to legacy level. Have read where virus attacks can corrupt "MS firewall.
Note COMODO was involved in initial issue as "msiexce.exe type viruis or ?, would start up at any time and attempt "MS Installing Scan", where "scan" was COMODO virus scan, that could be followed via What's Runnnig V2.2 and came out visibly from Msiexec.exe as some sort of subfolder. I finally hunted it down, not sure where but COMODO got removed, and so did some other registry and exe.s I got from PC1 to run for virus, trojans etc. It has stopped, but it seems that the MS Firewall was damaged and even when I just ran XP Repair, it followed.
NOTE THIS SEEMS THE ISSUE AS NO VIRUS FOUND IN MAL OR SUPER. When I run Control Panel, firewall I get this message, Windows Firewall cannot be displayed because the associated services is not running. Do you want ICF, ICS service, (Click yes and get)
Windows cannot start the ICF ICS service.
NOTE orig message, can ping etc.
LOGS attached, only issue was a"trackikg cookie"... guess I got the virus's. Suspect something got to firewall and it blocks PC as Net Adapt shows good connectivity. IDEAS as PC remains OFF LINE? All anti virus other the MAL/Super are removed, all firewall gone other then MS Firewall as it seems hung on COMODO Message.. do NOT know if it was safe to run the COMBO fix so did not.

 

The issue is XP firewall will NOT connect to the net. THERE IS NO MALWARE issue as the scans I sent prove. How does one rebuild of what ever the MS firewall, and check the rest of it out? I am NOT concerned with malware etc. THE MS firewall is corrupted and at this point no proof that malware did it, so let's fix the problem, OK? I wish to repair MS Firewall, and then get back on the net. That is the issue so far. NO data points out any other issue.

i don't think your problem lies with the windows firewall have you tried to redo your network connection using the the network connection utility found in your control panel.you may also want to try this program " http://majorgeeks.com/download4372.html ".

The network connection is not related to the windows firelwall corruption, disable or remove NA and same message about firewall a posted shows up. ALL drivers up to date,

The ISSUE is the correction of the corruption in the MS Firewall. THE NA is not part of that and pings work fine, even 127.0.0.1. Need some info on correct the corrupted firewall issue. Am going to get SP2 of net and copy it to CD on another machine and try that one. The issue seems to be the firewall.

you might want to try and remove the windows firewall and then reinstall it this may help correct any corrupt registry entries and fix the issues you are having.
a search on the net i have found these instructions on how to remove the firewall " http://www.instant-registry-fixes.org/how-to-remove-firewall-included-in-windows-xp/ " it also shows you how to reinstall it.
i hope this helps you this may fix your problem.

 

I found solution. Will post the whole mess and solutions from start to finish. For now cleaning up the machine. Learned a lot in the process of fixing it.
