windows can't detect network adaptar

    hello wise geek elders i have yet another problem. i am running xp home sp2 i built the pc. its on a fresh install of windows, now windows cannot detect a wired or wireless network card.as stated on the explorer diagnoses tool its the adaptor is missing on device manager as well as an item ...i cannot load drivers because when i try driver packs from gigabyte above in the unpacking tool in red it says cannot create under every single file as it unpacks..i've reset bios to default ...this is the first problem of the kind i've ever had i am on a linksys routor wrt54gl but this has never been a factor befor . in fact it was connected to the internet earlier that day you see.....i sort of loaded windows onto a small partition i created for recovery somehow..everything went smoothly then ..i didn't know how else to handle that problem so i started from scratch again...now i have this problem ...i'll grateful be for any help..thank you in advance
