Well I have a 4 year old Sony Vaio desktop and for a while now it consistently displays the wrong time in the windows clock. Several times a week I would have to manually update the time, however it does sometimes keep the correct time. Is this due to the CMOS battery? Or is there anything else that could be happening?

The first thing to do is to look at the CMOS battery to make sure you don't have any corrosion. If some corrosion, try to clean it off and put back in.(Pencil eraser) If no corrosion, then replace it. That's the simplest fix.
There might be something else wrong if the new battery doesn't keep the time updated.

    Oh okay, thanks.

  4. Oh btw, if you enter the time into windows clock and it is still wrong you should try to set it in cmos clock before saying that there is a problem somewhere else because usualy when you set the cmos clock the windows clock adjusts itself automatically.
