You need to get Ghost Software, install it on another pc and create an image for the pc you want to copy. Be sure you have the right Ghost boot disk for your NIC if you're doing this over a network.

That can work well if the two computers are identical; same hardware, same motherboard, etc. That's basically what a factory "Restore Disk" is. But on different computers, you will run into problems because of the differences. Different hardware, and your drivers are all wrong. Different motherboard and chipset, and Windows may go nuts not even recognizing where all the hardware is.

It can be done, but it's not going to be painless.

It is, unless you just built or bought a new box and want to transfer everything over intact... and then erase if from the old box before giving it away or using if for something else, like Linux.

But a fresh install is easier in the long run than trying to patch & salvage an incorrect installation.

G.T. - You're right, it wouldn't be painless but it's just a matter of getting the proper drivers for the new computer (which typically come with the new pc).

WizKid2 - Be sure to have the appropriate # of liscences if you plan on using both pc's.

Its not legal, so we have a problem with that. Frankly, you can pickup Windows 2000 pretty cheap and moving the OS to another machine, unless there exactly the same, can be a real pain.

    Your previous message was
    "Susp all
a kid i know said he burned a copy of xp and is selling them for 25$. Is it even possibel to copy the xp cd's and if it is dont u need a activation code or sumthin? Also what should i do? Report him?
    thx"

So not sure what the deal here is, except I smell a rat. Anyone can sell pirated copies of Windows XP, but future service packs updates will invalidate it, FYI.

In the meantime, I am confused by your posts and intentions, as are our other moderators, so this is the end of this thread as well.
