Saw there's a download for it, in beta, is it worth getting?
Or wait for the kinks to come out?

i got it not long ago when i had a fake (?) virus scare... screen popped up and said i had a "black worm" virus... but i couldn't find out a thing about it... turns out it was trying to sell me their software... anyway, i ran spybot, my anti-virus, and winpatrol with no results... but defender found it and got rid of it for me... of course, it questions me every time i make any changes, but so far it seems to be worth it... unless or until they start charging for it

I installed it a few weeks ago, it has not caught anything yet. I ran Pest Control after the Defender sweeps and caught about 20 cookies.
I'm not a big on the "!" icon in the system try warning me to do a scan every three days.

    Yes it's worth getting. http://www.majorgeeks.com/download4466.html

It's built on a very mature program, GIANT AntiSpyware.

So Defender is the successor to Microsoft AntiSpyware then?

I agree it found something that AVG, Spybot, Ad-aware, Pest Patrol and Spyware Doctor did not. I realise that Spybot, Ad-aware, Pest Patrol, Spyware Doctor are not AV and I did not expect them find a virus but WindDefence (WD) did find it. Online Panda scan also found it and after the uninsatll of AVG (bye-bye for good) NOD32 certainly found it, had to ascertain no false positives were occuring!!!!

So with this in mind and as Insomniac pointed out (product has a solid foundation) I have it installed and find it works well. Mind you with all that said there is at least one person who has posted a thread on this site who has had serious problems with it:

Look at this so I can offer an impartial and balanced view.
