Windows Error found: Code 80244024

Hi! My Dad needs some assistance. He e-mailed the following question to me to ask you;

When I go for windows updates, I now get a message
"Windows could not search for new updates"
Error found: Code 80244024

His computer is brand new, running Windows 7.

W7 comes with Defender enabled by default, it should be accessible from Control Panel.

As a workaround until you can get more info on this problem Windows System logs?), suggest he installs PSI Secunia, it should auto-update Windows Critical patches, etc. and most 'standard' software too.
