Windows error ???

I use Add/Remove in control panel . All icons in panel give same message:

Error loading C:\Windows\System 32\shell 32.dll
Access denied

How can I get this to work? Please HELP !!

 

sounds like a problems with permissions. Have you checked the computer for viruses/malware recently?

 

Yes. The operating system is windows xp professional.

 

You might try a repair install of windows. It goes thru and fixes the windows system files. To do this, boot from your Windows XP Pro cd, press enter at the first screen and press F8 at the second. The third screen that comes up should list your operating system and asks you to press "r" to repair. If it goes to the list of hard drives and partitions, you either put in the wrong OS disk or there is a big problem with your windows installation.
