windows exe has stopped, mp4splitter.ax

mp4splitter.ax APPCRASH
while using youtube downloader, I had just downloaded an mp4 and then I had a pop up window that says Windows Explorer has stopped working, check online for a solution and restart the program, or restart the program.
when I click to restart or check online, it just causes the same pop again. the pop up itself takes over, and you cannot click on your start menu or anything before it reloads. last week my cd rom went bad so I cant even reformat.
I can click on the pop up telling it to restart and it gives me a little window of a sec or two to open firefox thats how I got on here. I tried to do a system restore, but it didnt solve the problem. i get the following, when i click to view problem details.

From doing a little research It looks like Mp4splitter.ax is an add on of sorts, but I cant access anything to do a search for it to uninstall it due to the pop up dominating the window.
I appreciate any help with this, as I am at my wits end. I have worked two days trying to solve this. even starting in safe mode the pop up still loads. thanks
