I'm trying to get the individual readings of the CPU, RAM, Graphics card, etc. in my Vista SP1 DELL desktop.

I used to be able to get the individual readings and overall Index, but now I can only get the info shown on the thumbnail below.

I'm very :confused. What do I need to do? There is no way to continue on the screen shown in the Thumbnail. Going to Control Panel ---> System only gives me the lowest rating, not the individual ratings. :cry :(

    HI Bazza

Have you been tweaking system with any reg edits or applications? if so what?

But possible fixes are an app has set Group Policy and this can be removed by typing gpedit.msc in Start Search Box and then naviagting to this loacation.

Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > System > Performance Control Panel

and once there double click Turn off access to the performance center core section
    Set it to Not configured

then this location in Group Policy

User Configuration > Administrative Templates > System > Performance Control Panel and do same to same policy

If they are already set to not configured then enable and apply and then revert to not set and apply.

If your Vista does not have Group Policy then check regedit if thats been changed or corrupted is, open regedit then navigate to this location

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SOFTWARE > Policies > Microsoft > Windows > Control Panel > Performance Control Panel

and on the key PerfcplEnabled ( if you have it ) in the right panel, then delete it and do same in this location

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER > SOFTWARE > Policies > Microsoft > Windows > Control Panel > Performance Control Panel

Either or or both of these should restore that WEI

Thanks Halo, this one worked. :cool :major :-D

Where would I be without you? ;)

Up the creek, that's for sure. :)

WEI is back, even though it makes depressing reading on my old DELL desktop.

No probs Bazza, great on letting me know which one fixed it out of the two ( BTW which Vista version aka Basic, Home Premium or Ultimate you using ), someone has to bail you out ;)

Just would keep an eye and double check what some of the tweaks you are using and possibly backup PC in a image file ( Acronis TI or similar ) before heavy tweaking as may not be as lucky next time.

Vista Home Premium for me. Sometimes lots of reading, and occasional tweaking of Vista. Obviously some work and some don't. ;)

For my XP Pro laptop, I use Acronis T.I v10 and do a full backup around 3 times a week. I just set the backup to run after I have finished my Net session, and done my PC housekeeping.

I don't have a lot of data to backup (around 15 gig) so while it backs up to an external hard drive, to a day of the week Folder, I have my brekky. When I come back I validate it and do other things while it validates.

    Fairly painless actually.

I use Vista infequently as I have not found any real compelling reason to use Vista over XP Pro. Like lots of others, I guess. :-D But remember my Vista DELL desktop has low specs.
