Windows explorer crashing always on startup

I am running windows 7 home premium

I never really ever encountered this in the 2 years i had this pc, it started doing this about 3 or 4 days ago.

Usually when i logged in and put my password it would launch windows to my desktop in about 3 or 4 seconds, now it seems to take about 1 minute.

When it does launch i get a black screen and i can see the cursor, it stays like this for about 1 minute then everything else loads ( windows explorer and my icons etc..).

Other then the ''windows explorer has stopped working'' error i don't really run across any other problems and i can use my pc just fine.

I did a virus/malware/spyware scan and everything came clean.

I haven't really installed any new software either since it started doing this. I think the only thing i actually installed was skype.
