Windows Explorer crashing frequently

Tonight I have taken a crash course in why downloading certain things (specifically Guitar Pro) from IsoHunt is a bad idea. I downloaded a new version because the old one I had crashed at every turn, but that's not the point. Point is, I'm fairly certain that is the reason Windows Explorer continually crashes for me.

As soon as I installed the program and ran it, my computer started acting wonky. Then, Windows Explorer died. I went into task manager and attempted to get it to run again, and that worked for a very brief while (1-1.5 minutes). Then, it began blinking and generally acting odd and dying. So I tried it again, with the same result.

I ran SpyBot, which didn't do a whole lot. Then, I went and rebooted in safe mode. Went into the add/remove programs bit, removed the suspect program, and tried rebooting in regular mode to no avail. About two minutes after I rebooted, Windows Explorer died again. I'm considering going through the entire Malware Cleansing dealy provided in the Malware section of the forums, but I'm not sure if it would work for me. OS is Vista. I'll provide more details where requested.

There are Vista instructions in the READ ME FIRST sticky in the Malware forum. If you downloaded something from IsoHunt, then I'd say malware removal is in your immediate future.

However, this doesn't mean you can skip the top part You must follow all of the steps as they are described exactly for the best results. Doing so also makes chaslang and the other malware fighters very happy
