As per title,it seems that every day now i get the message shown in title.
It seems to happen when i am moving / deleting photos etc,but not all the time.
I just started to recall now when it appears what was i doing just before, yep photos.
I have supplied a few scren shots of the message and also when i click on the click here for more options etc.

Hope this helps and we can track it down.
I did a few weeks ago have some spyware removed using the tools advised in another section on this site.

Sometimes a corrupt file and having thumbnails show causes this crash. Turn off thumbnails and see if the crash is fixed.
    1. Open a cmd prompt ( Programs then accessories)
    2. Type this in
    Code:
    regsvr32 /u shmedia.dll
then press enter and close the box.

To undo this, open a cmd prompt and type this in
    Code:
    regsvr32 shmedia.dll

Funny because i normally use the thumbnail option.
Ok,i have applied the code as advised.
I will see what happens in the next day or two.
Once the code is applied what does it then do as checking a folder or two the photos are still thumbnail preview etc.

I have been running ok for a few days with this issue but the last two days hit the snag again. This is with the following regsvr32 /u shmedia.dll applied.
Today i had no photos on my desktop and i cut and pasted or tried from a folder to the desktop and bang, error message popped up and i cant then do anything.
I have then to restart the pc,not sure why this happend as the photo i was moving was 2 minutes old and was viewed no problem before habd.
Having checked the Directx on my pc i am using version 9
Trying to update to version 11 i see a message to say my pc is not compatable.
I then checked for the Net framework version i have installed installed and its version 4 but looking for a later version shows many on the internet but what do you advise as quite a few are from third party sites.

Please advise what i should do next.

    Thanks.

Its also possible you have a corrupt media file in what you are coping and pasting. Have you tried one at a time to see if it doesn't error out?

I recall Windows XP being notorious for having shell crashes when it tried to work with a corrupted media file.

It was only the one photo I was moving.
Its strange when I get the error message and click ok etc Dr watson then pops up with a message of which I can't remember now, so I click close etc but I am then unable to do anything and must restart PC.

Can Dr Watson be disabled etc or must I have it, I don't even know what it is or what it's used for.

So do I actually need it ?

    Hi,
It seems that its not just a photo.
Today i zipped up a file, cope=ied the file then pasted it to the desktop,
I then encountered the same problem.
This time i did alt, control & delete / processes and stoped dr watson and i was then able to continue.

    Any advice ?
