Okay, so i downloaded this alarm clock program called "PC Alarm Clock Pro 3200", and i ran perfectly up until where it played the song and my windows explorer went black, i hit the dismiss button and my explorer didn't come back. So i proceeded to open up task manager run explorer.exe, it came back up but only for a couple seconds. It then goes black again, i noticed that the explorer.exe is just closing it's self and then reopening. It constantly opens and closes so you can't do anything involving windows explorer. I've ran registry scanners, i've ran ccleaner, i've done trendmicro's housecall and none of them have found any problems wrong. It also does it in safemode and continues to do it after restarts. I've ran msconfig and checked start up programs and services, nothing out of the ordinary appeared. Im using Xp pro

    Hi

First option if not already done and you have not mentioned above is uninstall this Alarm Clock Software, reboot to see if same explorer issue.

Which Service Pack with XP? outside chance is that if your on SP3 then this software may need an update, so contacting their support may help on that.

i had this exact same problem about 4 or 5 months ago!!! turns out it was a virus that came along with vista transformation pack...ive stayed away from that since...have you scanned for viruses using a boot up disc instead of scanning within windows?

Okay so heres the deal now, i decided to go get my xp pro cd and boot off of that and go into the repair console and get the explorer.exe off of the cd and replace it. So i expand the compressed explorer.ex_ from the i386 folder on the cd and extracted into the windows folder on the C:, then i restarted and i came up with the most common problem that i've found during my research before. When started up it says windows explorer has encountered a error and needs to close. Okay that didn't solve it so i downloaded sp3 and installed and then restarted, now when it starts up it bogs down at the windows log in screen.. doesn't show anything and then i get a little flash of some screen and then it restarts....
