I have just got back from 2 months leave, to find my daughter and my flatmate have stuffed my laptop. Its an Inspiron 1525 only about 18 months old.

Kel said she was getting webpages flicking on the screen and then it went blank.

The message I got when I switched it on said "Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause...." There was a whole page, but it said to hit return for repair, which was recommended so I did.

Now it says, A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer
    disk.sys
    Page_fault_in_Nonpaged_Area
If this is the first time youve seen this stop error screen restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps:
Check to make sure any new hardware or software is properly installed.
If this is a new installation ask your hardware or software manufacturer for any windows updates you might need
If problems continues, disable or remove any newly installed hardware or software. Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing. If you need to use Safe Mode to remove or disable components restart your computer, press F8 to select Advanced startup options, and then select safe mode.
    Technical information:
    ***Stop; 0x00000050 (0x87FB23FC, 0x000000008,0x87FB23FC,0x00000000)
    *** disk.sys - Address 87FB23FC base at 87FB1000, DateStamp 00000000

Trouble is I have tried F8, and all I get is.....

    Internal
No bootable devices--strike f1 to retry boot, f2 for setup utility
Press f5 to run onboard diagnostics.

I have run the onboard diagnostics and nothing was found, it gives me the option to reboot, which I do then I get this message again.

I can't do any of the Read & Run Me First. (I'm typing this on my work computer). I'm so upset, I feel like my Inspiron is dying. Is there anything you can suggest?

I have moved your thread to the software forum as we can not assist you with any malware removal until you can boot your system to a stable state. :(
