windows help?

hey what's up guys? Im at my friends house, and his windows is not producing sound. I mean you can't even hear the windows chime when you start up, and you can't hear the music being played. He bought a new soundblaster 24 bit a little bit ago and it worked fine, but he installed windows xp professional edition and it doesn't work. If anyone can help that would be great. Shoot, i'll even go to your house, and give you a hug. His specs are AMD athlon (don't know specifically), 1 ghz, and the computer itself was built by someone else. Non-commercial, commercial as in hp,dell.

 

you didn't mention if it was in the hardware profiles or not, nor did you mention if the drivers were "OK" with windows.

did you go to "control panel" and make sure it's not disabled? check it under the "sounds" option, and be sure the speakers are correct and that nothing is disabled.

did you open the sound icon and make sure that nothing is "muted"?

have you opened the sound card's program and make sure that its settings are correct?

hey thanks guys! No i found out what the problem was Sound devices > Device volume > Advanced > Playback Advanced, than i unchecked the digital output. What the crap was that all about? Hmm... well thanks guys for the help.
