Hoping you can help me. I tried to use PCMover to transfer my old laptop contents to new laptop (which came with preinstalled software). I used Laplink USB cables but, unfortunately, screwed up a final step (checked transfer MSnet files...I think). Things went downhill from there. New laptop won't boot. Tried installing Windows10 from USB recovery media but after I click "install" I get a screen asking where I want to install Windows.
    Here's what's shown:
    Drive 0 Partition 1:SYSTEM 260mb 194mb system
    2 16mb 16mb MSR reserved
    3 953.1mb 953.1 Primary
    4 515MB 63MB Recovery
    0 unallocated space 8mb 8mb
Drive 1 Partition 1 16mb 16mb MSR reserved (deleted, see update)
    2 27.2 8.7 Primary (deleted, see update)

It will not install to any partition on Drive 0. Details:
    1 - EFI not NTFS
    2- reserved
3- Locked by Bitlocker; disable in control panel (which I can't access)
    4- recovery
    5- too small

I tried installing to Drive 1 Partition 2 (even though it didn't seem to have enough space) and it seems to install....installs files, updates, finish...but the computer boots back into the original install screen.

    Can you please help me?
Thank you for your time and effort
    Luni
UPDATE: I think Drive 1 was probably my thumb USB drive because when I deleted Drive 1 Partition 1 and 2 it was trashed. Used Diskpart, reformatted and installed media recovery again so it's usable again.

I am unsure what you are doing now.... A fresh install? For best results that is what I would do, then just reinstall your software that you need. To do that, you need to delete all partitions, (all data will be lost, so save anything you need), then reformat, the installer will do this for you, install to the newly formatted partition.

If your old laptop will still boot, you can make an image to transfer to new PC. I use macrium reflect, the free edition is available here on Majorgeeks. You may run into some compatibility issues being the PC's are different. As long as it boots, you can update the drivers and be ok most of the time. By the way, this is my least favorite way, sometimes it makes for a flaky install that never seems quite right.
There are videos online on how to use macrium reflect, it is a good idea to watch one or a few if you have never done this type of thing. Hope this helps, or at least get you going in the right direction.
Also, I do not have much time to be on here these days, so I may or may not be here for more help, but there are lots of great people here that can help, most are way smarter than me, good luck.

Thank you so much for your response.

Yes I think the only alternative that I have is a clean install of Windows 10 on the new machine. Thinking about this....perhaps the partitions shown on Disk 0 were the transfer set up by PCMover. ...starting to "clone"/transfer the old laptop. What do you think?

*** Anyway, to make sure I understand you. If I can delete all the (4) partitions shown on Disk 0 then it will all be unallocated space and when Windows installs it will set up system, reserve, recovery and primary. etc partitions ? Or whatever it needs to install? ***

Not familiar with macrium reflect but I have used PCMover before. This fiasco was my mistake not the software's. I wasn't focused and, at the end of the transfer, I reselected files that should NOT have been transferred (MS Net...approx 6-8 files). PCMover has done a good job...there are always some minor glitches and tweaks that need to be done but it does a damn good job transferring 90-95% of your system/set up. MUCH easier that trying to duplicated/reinstall all the stuff you use/like.

I'll try deleting partitions and a clean install. Thanks again for your help.

PS Just reread and saw "delete all partitions then reformat the installer will do this for you" Meaning when I reinstall, it will format the drive? Because I'm not sure I have that option on the "disk management" program that I see (Not familiar with it) Will have to check when I boot the new laptop tomorrow

OK, if you are going with a new/clean install, (recommend), forget macrium reflect.

If I can delete all the (4) partitions shown on Disk 0 then it will all be unallocated space and when Windows installs it will set up system, reserve, recovery and primary. etc partitions ? Or whatever it needs to install?

    Yes.

    Yes.

You do not need to do this before you start the install. You will be given the chose to do this within the installer. See pics.
Select "custom" then the next screen will have the options to delete the partitions, and to create a new partition. Then just hit next, and let it finish the install.
Also, if you want after you delete all the partitions, you can just hit next, and it will automate the creation of the new partitions, and format for you, then it just starts the install.

PCMover is for moving a user profile & data, it does not copy partitions or change disk layouts. If you paid for that software, I'd use their support first before wiping everything.
Have you tried to boot into recovery?
