Windows installer errors

I installed ZipGenius on a WIN98 machine using Outlook 2K to get email from an Exchange server running on SBS2K. Outlook freaked out and now won't load. (Unable to open your default e-mail folders. The information store could not be opened.) At first I couldn't get to the mailbox from other workstations; now I can get there (at least from an Outlook2003 I tried.

I've tried to uninstall Outlook 2000 and MS Office Small Business 2000, but I'm having problems. I get errors such as:

Error 1408 Could not get sub key names for key: INSTALLER\PATCHES\8347239872394...\SOURCELIST
VERIFY THAT YOU HAVE SUFFICIENT ACCESS TO THAT KEY OR CONTACT...

This is Win98 and the user is the main user.

Right now I get that error message when I try to uninstall DISK 2 (tools and such) of MS SB2K. If I try to uninstall MS SB2K itself, I get a different message:
This Patch package could not be opened. Verify that the patch package exists and that you can access it...blah, blah, blah.

I don't know what's going on. Is my registry fried? Is Windows Installer on the fritz? I've search for help with Error 1408 without success.
