Hi, I have tried EVERYTHING to fix Windows Installer.
    Upgraded to latest version,
    unregistered / reregistered
    checked registry path
The service just will not start. It is not in add/remove, I can't install the clean up utility, I have many installer events in event viewer. When trying to start the service I received the message :The windows installer service on local computer started then stopped. Some services stop automatically if they have no work to do, for example the Performance Logs and Alter Services"
I have tried the resolutions from Microsoft for each event and they don't work. One thing I did notice that was different, when going through the event logs, I found when the issue started and at that time the "user" was
NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM and now it's "user" MY NAME

    Any Suggestions?

Have you tried a system restore to a date before the problem started? Have you tried the system file checker? Maybe a safe re-install of the OS?

Hi, Unfortunately System Restore was turned off at that time (for whatever reason), and system file checker turned up nothing. I was trying to avoid a reinstall (last resort). I just find it so incredible that something like this is so
    difficult to fix.
    Thank you!
