Windows Installer Keeps Popping Up

For several days now the Windows Installer dialog box has been flashing on my screen for a fraction of a second. This happens about every 5 minutes or so. It's quite annoying and so far I have been unable to find a solution. Most suggestions said to try the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility but that has not worked.

One strange thing is that Adaware (which hasn't been on my computer for months) and a phantom item remain in the Cleanup Utility's dialog box and cannot be removed.

I see app remover will get rid of the remnants of Ad-Aware http://www.appremover.com/supported.html

Download it and run it http://www.appremover.com/

Reboot then run CCleaner

The app you suggested did not list adaware as an option to erase. I decided to do a system restore and the problem seems to have went away for now. Thanks for your help.

Sure did. You need to scroll down to Lavasoft and you would have seen three versions of Ad-Aware listed.
