This is a new one by me. It seems the windows installer service on out Win2k PC is not functioning. When you try to install something that requires the use of the intstaller service, it says that the installer service is disabled or not there. I downloaed the installer service from MS's website and upon trying to install it, it says it is already installed.

    WTF is going on?

Hi Matt. I'm assuming you've checked to be sure the installer process is actually running? Go to 'run' and type in 'services.msc' to check that it is not disabled. If it looks ok, then it sounds like the installer files are corrupted. I had it happen once. You should try running "sfc/ scannow" from the command prompt to have the computer check it's system files. You will need your Win2k install disk for it to replace anything it finds corrupted. If it doesn't let you run it with the 'scannow' option, use 'scanboot' to have it run on re-boot. Good luck,

    Todd
