I think something is wrong with my window installer, it will not install anything from my CD's, I am trying to do a sfc /scannow, and then I get a message saying

Files that are required for Windows to run properly must be coppied to the DLL cashe.

Insert you Win XP CD, it's already in there and tries to open over and over and it will not go there.
I have uninstalled the drivers for both my CD drives, not helping. I can explore the CD, and it works, however I am still getting these errors about Explorer erroring, and shutting down.
How can I browse the CD and find the sanning file to scan my DLL's and system files?

    Thanks!

I don't think that has anything to do with Windows Installer.

Anyway, have a read of THIS.

Sfc is such a useless utility because you can never get the thing to accept the media you have.

I work on a corporate network. We distribute the OS via Altiris images (think Ghost, except useful). I don't even have a Win 2k SP0 disc or Win XP SP0 disc (which is apparantly only what it wants). And I've never even seen a SP4 or SP1a/2 disc (and, no, burning the SP files to a disc doesn't work... neither does slipstreaming). Why doesn't MS make .isos of the SP CDs available for download?
