    Hello,
Unfortunately, I think I have a major problem with Windows. I believe its corrupt and I don't know hot to fix it. Every time I start up my computer, my Windows is showing in a different font which is illegible. The font is all boxes, squares, exclamation marks, and arrows. My internet works fine and the fonts are normal but my Windows itself is messed up. Please help me solve this problem. Thank you everyone.

It appears that your display settings are set to a font that is not being displayed properly (obviously). So right click anywhere on your desktop. In the box that opens, click on the bottom choice (Properties). In the resulting box that opens, click on the 4th tab at the top (Appearance). Now, click on the button in the lower right corner- Not the one all the way at the lower right (which would read Apply and should be grayed out until you make changes), don't click it- click the button right above that (it would normally read Advanced with Effects right above it). Now, in the next window that opens, you'll have access to changing your font. You'll see 2 boxes that offer choices, the lower box is fonts. If you click on some text in the 'example' window, you should be able to change the font. Alternatively, you could try a system restore to a time right before the problem started. You can start system restore by clicking Start > Run and type C:\windows\system32\restore\rstrui.exe and press Enter. This will initiate the system restore process. Without begin able to read it may seem tricky if you've never run system restore before.... When the window opens, click the left button at the bottom of the window (Next, the other is Cancel; at the top, the top choice should be selected by default), the next window should show a calendar. Pick a date before the wierd font problem and click the middle button at the bottom. The middle button is Next, the left is Back, the right button is Cancel. On the next screen is basically a 'warning' describing what a system restore does and it explains that the PC will be rebooted. Again, click the middle button at the bottom of the window (it's Next also) and let everything do it's thing. That's IT!!! I'm pretty sure that system restore will work: my friend's kids royally screwed up his desktop fonts also, and system restore fixed it...

    Two things you could try:

    1) Right click on a blank area of your desktop and select properties. Under the themes tab choose another theme and apply it to see if it corrects the font.

    2) Download a demo version of Microangelo on Display it has an easy font changing tab that should correct the problem. I don't know the terms of the demo but probably it just becomes inactive leaving you with the last font you've chosen.

WOW. THANK YOU EVERYBODY, especially hopperdave2000. I really want to thank you for all of your help. Your first step didn't work by changing the fonts so I did a system restore as you said and everything started working again. Thanks again. :D :) :D :) :D :) :p :p :p :p :p
