Using the 8.5 version and starting to think it is MSN's server ......seems like it happens at various times (Mothers Day was a disaster until fairly late in the evening).
Not sure which server I run through at my location......but others don't seem to have the issue from their locations. Hummmmmm.....................

(Note: It crashes on xp as well).

    Hi Tim

I use on very rare occasions WLM 14 in Vista x64 with no issues, but saying that means nothing as various PC have various foibles with apps.

Build 14.8064.206 is what I have installed.

Any error codes generated at all?

What Graphics card do you have installed, no not one of my mad suggestions but if its ATi then uninstall current and update the driver to latest as some in WLM NGs have mentioned random crashes if using a Ati card.

What router? and what is MTU set to? update Router if an update for Firmware is available and/or lower MTU to 1400 to see if that helps.

Anything in the WLMess logs or if not enabled that option then do so, click in WLMess, Tools > Options > Connection > Advanced and tick save a log of my server connections and next time you have a crash look at both the Windows Mess log and the Vista Event Viewer log for any info.

Or use the ZapMessenger app again and then run Ccleaner for cleaning up temps and registry etc and install this time a slightly older that 8.5 version in 8.1 from here

Tried the 14 build and crashed like crazy. Do have an ATI card ( this is a brand new lappy - so Toshiba shows no updates).

Just changed routers ....setting are good.

Have not enabled the logging.,....will do so. But there has been no errors in the event viewer at this time.

Would run a ping test if I knew what the ip addy is for the server.

The other thing is that it it also happened on my xp lappy. My isp said there was no interruption in their ping test when it crashed as they were watching.

Run for over 8 hours today without a single crash. I firmly believe it is a conspiracy by MLW to make me take tranquilizers.......or the secret police.

    Maybe so ;)

If all is ok then I wouldnt change anything but in the main ATi do offer for the mobile gfx chips a unified driver which I use on one of my laptops ok, Nvidia is kinda different as needs mostly the makers driver.

Would narrow it down for you Tim but without chipset or gfx version its not easy but most are here http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/Pages/index.aspx check your chipset or gfx card version and its likely to be in the Mobility or Integrated list of drivers,
