Windows Live Desktop Beta Problem

    I downloaded Windows Live Desktop Beta a few days ago and since than i can't read my emails. My windows live messenger can log in and tells me that i have emails but somehow live desktop beta can't log in. Also, since i downloaded it my outlook can't log in as well. I go to Firefox to check my emails from windows live hotmail website anytime without problem but can't get it what is wrong with live desktop. Any suggestions appreciated.

    Why use the Live Desktop Mail beta, as this application came out of beta in Nov07 and had a name change from Windows Live Desktop Mail to just Windows Live Mail, so I would uninstall the old beta and install the latest full release version, also present for download through same downloader is Windows Live Messenger latest version.

    also what error messages do you get when Win Live cannot login?

    In Windows Messenger, try the Troubleshooter in Tools > Options > Connections for any clues.

    Check the Account settings for the mail servers.

    Check they are not blocked by firewall, sounds weird I know as you get notification to emails, but thats an incoming connection, loging on is outgoing and that maybe blocked but the error messages that show when failing to logon may narrow the cause.

    That was very quick reply. i wanted ask another question regarding reading emails. I have 3 separate hotmail accounts all for different purposes i can connect 2 but can't connect 3rd one. Message keep saying password wrong which is not true because i am online and 3rd hotmail account is open on my screen. any suggestions? thanks

    Should i have asked this in a separate thread?

    Yes no problems in being in same thread,

    Hard to diagnose without being with you in person, but delete the account and start again with it as a new account and slowly type the details, I know on occasion I mistyped some password and it messed up one of my email accounts, but Live Mail can handle multiples with no problem as I have my ISP mail, 2 Hotmail, 1 MSN, 1 Live and my Majorgeeks mail all in the one app.

    Hi Halo, i deleted and started from beginning. Typed very carefully but still message says either my 3rd hotmail account is not exist or password is wrong. I don't get it. Any other suggestion you can think of? thanks again

    Off hand I don't have any suggestions as yet as I cannot recreate a 3rd Hotmail Account not working with WLM, so suggestion is to fill out a support request for the WLM team to help you https://support.live.com/eform.aspx...lsupport_home_options_form_byemail&ct=eformts

    oh ok I do have one suggestion but I know it likely is not the cause, but worth checking, delete your temps and cookies ( Ccleaner is ok for this ) then close all browser windows, sign out from any Hotmail accounts, then open a Command Prompt and type ipconfig /flushdns it enter.

    This flushes the DNS cache as at times negative corrupted entries can get stuck in there, but as I say likely not the cause but worth checking, then try before signing into that account online, creating the account again in WLM.
