Windows Live Mail is connected but won't send.

    My friend cannot use Windows Live Mail for e-mails or anything else, although his other internet facilities with Sky are working perfectly well. His McAfee firewall allows WLM through, it is the default e-mail program in Internet Explorer and a trusted site. Tools – Options – Connections gives “You are connected”; Advanced settings -TCP test and http test both give “Success”. I don’t understand the SOCKS section but the error message below mentions a socket error.
    Subject: ‘fw: address’
    Server: ‘smtp.sky.com’
    WLM Error ID: 0x800CCC0E
    Protocol: SMTP
    Port 25
    Secure (SSL): No
    Socket error: 10060
    Can anyone interpret this for me?

    Hi


    I setup my sisters Sky email account on WLM and didnt have that SMTP server setting for SKY.

    It was these...

    Incoming mail server (POP3) pop.tools.sky.com
    Outgoing mail server (SMTP) smtp.tools.sky.com


    and also login to the SKY account online and goto the Email section, click Tools Tab > Click goto Inbox and at top of page click Mail Settings and make sure POP forwarding is clicked and enable POP is ticked ( done from memory so may not be perfect steps but you can check the menus and it will be listed ) save and exit.

    The make sure the settings above are in WLM for servers, the email username and password are correct, then tick the box for My server requires authentication > click the Advanced tab and change the below

    Under Port Numbers
    Outgoing server (SMTP) 465

    Tick This Server requires a secure connection (SSL)

    Incomming Mail (POP3) 995

    Tick This Server requires a secure connection (SSL)

    click Apply and you should be set.
