Windows Live Mail niggles

A long time OE user I have now migrated to WLM (XP version) I have a lot of folders and sub folders in WLM. My problem is I cannot stop all the folders and subfolders from opening every time I start WLM (they do not contain unread messages). The next niggle is I usually start in Quick View so I can see all the messages in all my accounts at the same time. When I close any of the above mentioned open folders the 'cursor' goes back to the Quick View folder which makes closing them a bit of a pain. I tried to use the WLM 'help' but I'm required to sign up just to get some info so that's out. The WLM forum is unobtainable so it's over to you gentlemen. Am I missing some thing basic??!!
