I have a client that is using Windows Live Mail. When she goes to start a new email message and types in the email address nothing appears but the letters are there, just can't see them. If I maximize the email message window then the email address appears. If I set it so new email message window is maximized same problem until I shrink the window. Also, if selecting an email from the auto drop down list it will not show up in the "To" box. I have uninstalled and reinstalled Windows Live Mail but that did not help.

Is this a recently occurring problem? Did she make any changes to Windows settings just before this problem started? Is she using Windows 7? What version of Windows Live Mail is this, 2009 or 2011?

The system is Windows 7, using Windows Live Mail 2011.
    Problem started last week 9-7.
She does not remember making any changes.
I tried to restore back to a previous point but no restore point before the start of the problem.

I'm at a loss to offer a solution for Windows Live Mail. Let's stay tuned for suggestions from other members.

I can, at least, mention 1 or 2 alternatives to Windows Live Mail. Mozilla's Thunderbird email client is an alternative, and I think a very good one. Also, the Opera web browser has an embedded email client; in other words, it's integrated with the browser. Don't let that confuse you. Using Opera's email client, called M2, does, indeed, download mail to the computer; it is an email client, not webmail. When using M2, the email messages are displayed on a separate tab in Opera.

Edit: Back to Windows Live Mail; Has she experienced any quirks with other software on her computer? You might install CCleaner and run it's file cleaner and Registry cleaner. I can't guarantee this would make any difference, but no harm in trying.

Thunderbird was my exact thoughts. I was going to restore the system back to manufacturer settings but I am afraid the problem my come back. I will wait a bit to see if anyone has any other suggestions.

System is running fine in all other areas. I will run the ccleaner and see if that helps.
