Iv downloaded windows live mail with the promise of getting all my e-mail accounts and rss feeds (whatever in hell those are) in one place.
When i try to set it up with any account other than my hotmail it start asking for pop3 details and server deatails for ingoing and outgoing stuff (this could be greek for all it means to me)
Im not very computer literate but i have unticked the manual box so think i shouold get a gold star for that.
Is there any way to do this stuff automatically like it promised or should i just take out another contract on Bill Gates (that will be 7)
If not how do i find out all that pop3 and server nonsense ?
Any help greatly appreciated (try to use words of one syllable for me)
    Kwis.

    Ps Microsoft rocks :)

    Hi

Thats normal occurance as email applications dont know all of the settings for every email service around, so what you will have to do is to check your ISP or email service for their POP3 settings and enter them manually.

Will likely look something like this

    mail.serviceprovider.com
    smtp.serviceprovider.com

Then once armed with the settings, your user name and password to the email account, click in Win Live Mail, Tools > Accounts > Add

If you let us know what email service your setting up, maybe we can find the settings for you.

I use Outlook Express, so for that, open OE...
Go to Tools >> Accounts>> Mail Tab>> Properties Tab>> Server Tab.
Note down the POP3 and SMTP entries.
Do the same for any additional ISP mail services you are using. Cheers...

    Hi

Gmail, you have to turn on in Gmails settings POP forwarding, here is instructions on this http://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=13273 and http://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=86382

    Yahoo settings

    Yahoo Incoming Mail Server (POP3) - pop.mail.yahoo.com (port 110)
Yahoo Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) - smtp.mail.yahoo.com (port 25)

    AOL Settings

AOL Incoming Mail Server (IMAP) - imap.aol.com (port 143)
AOL Outgoing Mail Server - smtp.aol.com or use your local ISP SMTP mail server

    Inbox.com

http://www.inbox.com/troubles.aspx?choice=56 and the settings here will work in WLM http://email.inbox.com/faq_email.aspx?id=1389

Note bits in bold are the main server addresses fro POP and SMTP that you enter, and make sure the ports are as listed in brackets for those two email services.

So, you're going to use Outlook Express now, instead of Windows Live Mail (WLM)? Why the change? WLM is probably the better choice.

A not-free Yahoo Plus account is required for this.
