Can anyone tell me how to change windows live mail? It is the mail server that took over for Outlook Express; looks like it but the say it's different. My problem is the order I receive my mail. Right now it is grouping everything with the sender and not listing my mail as it comes in. This is very hard for me and makes it difficult to keep up with discussion on the mail lists. If anyone could help I would so much appreciate it. Falcon

Windows live mail is the new mail client to outlook express which comes with windows vista and possibly windows 7 but I don't have windows 7 so I cant tell you on there and I never seen the OS.

I can't be precise about this because I no longer use Windows Live Mail. However it may simply require you to sort your mail by date rather than by sender. In most programs you do this simply by clicking on the column heading you want to sort by.

Windows Live Mail does not come with Vista, Windows Mail does. Since neither Outlook Express nor Windows Mail come with Windows 7, Windows Live Mail is more or less the standard Microsoft email client for Windows 7.

I'm not absolutely sure I understand your problem; I use Windows Live Mail but have not used it with "discussion on the mail lists", whatever you mean by that. If you click on Views on the top menu, is "View by conversation" selected? If so, try unselecting it.

As I see it Windows Live mail simply gives you a place where you can sort all of your email servers. I have hotmail and Outlook. When I receive my mail in Outlook everything is sorted under the author. In other words if I have seven messages from John Doe they all appear under John Doe no matter when they were received. I want to know how to change my settings to receive my mail as it comes in not by author. Thanks

I guess you're from a different planet. I really can't make much sense of your comments. All email clients (Outlook, Outlook Express, Windows Mail, Windows Live Mail, Thunderbird, etc.) put incoming mail in the standard Inbox unless setup by the user to do differently. So, the "author", i.e. sender, makes no difference; all mail goes to the Inbox. Now, this can changed by creating message rules to direct mail from certain senders into specific folders other than Inbox. You have not stated you have done that, yet you seem to be saying that is what is happening with your email. Thus, I can't make sense of your situation. Some pertinent info seems to be missing here. Perhaps you can provide it.
