    Hi there,
I actually have 2 different problems I need help with and figured I'd post them both in here in the hopes I can get some help with them.

First of all I am running Windows Live Messenger 8.5 and when I'm at school everything works fine. However when I'm at home it seems to lag and freeze every now and then. DOes anyone have any suggestions on what might be causing this?

My second question relates to my webcam (Microsoft Lifecam). Everytime I plug it in it says that the webcam is already installed. I have tried uninstalling it completely and deleting all references to it from the system but it is still telling me it is installed on the system. How can I get this working?

ANy thoughts. I understnad I may not have provided enough info but just let me know what else I might need.

    THanks,
    Sullco

the second part of your question relating to the webcam needs posting in the Hardware Forum

With WLM, disable the Messenger Live Today by the following:

    Tools> Options

Under the General Tab make sure the "Show Windows Live Today" is unchecked.

ok, I'll try over there for the webcam. But Live today is not turned on at all.

    Something else to try:

Go to Control Panel> Add & Remove Programs.

Select WLM and and click CHANGE. On the window that appears select REPAIR. After completion of the Wizard, restart WLM again.

Then run the msncleaner 1.5.6 cleaner and reboot. This will remove msn malware/bloatware that comes with it.

Neither of those fixes seemed to work. FOr some reason I think it might have something to do with my linksys router but I don't know why, what or how to fix it.

Maybe the two problems are connected. Remove and uninstall the webcam from your computer and now try WLM.

The webcam has been uninstalled for a while actually. I uninstalled it and removed everything related to it a while ago because it wasn't working.

This problem has really got me confused.

Can you bypass the router and connect directly to a modem to see if that changes anything?
