Windows Live Messenger Will Not Update

Guys-
Has anybody here figured out how to update WLM (windows live messenger) from version 14.0 to the current one running Windows XP? I have been at this for close to 2 yrs dealing with the dopes at windows live help/support. I tell them that I do not want to use windows live essentials when I pay for MSN mail.
Also, my Media Center will not run when WLM is not working.
I've had more problems than enough with Dell when I first bought my computer. It has NOT worked more than it has.
Now that I do have it working, microsoft won't let me use windows live messenger because I have XP????? The program downloads in total, but then rolls back.
Please help-- I know you can!

Unfortunately, a few of the new products don't support windows XP. This is how microsoft forces you to buy a new PC even if the old one is working fine. With the passage of time, you would come to know that most of the new products from microsoft support win 7 (or some other version) only and to them, you have to buy a new PC. Right now, all you can do is install win 7. Definitely, this new OS will occupy more computing resources.

 

Strange how people's needs differ.


I am running Windows 7 and actually reverted back to the old WLM 8.5 as it is the best for me. no bloat, no useless browser screen or FB integration!

Thanks for your helpful reply. I was not looking for anything fancy, just something that will enable my MSN Premium to run. Do I need to uninstall the WLM 14.0 and then put on WLM 8.5?

I also lost the MSN Download Manager thinking that was also part of the problem while trying to make this crap work.

I am trying to send you a PM with a special step by step guide of how to install WLM 8.5 without having the nag screen to upgrade plus installing the Mess patch which removes all the ads, annoyances, and LiveID branding, but it says your private message inbox is full (over 50 messages for god's sake? rolleyes)
