Windows Live Messenger

I'm using ZoneAlarm Security Suite.

For some reason, I am unable to use Windows Live Messenger. I've disabled my firewall, uninstalled it, re-installed it and allowed WLM to access the internet, but it still doesn't connect. It only works when I comepletely close ZoneAlarm. I can connect fine with MSN Messenger 7.5.

I have completely allowed msn full access to everything, and that didn't work.


Any suggestions?

I also have Zone Alarm Security Suite and Windows Live Messenger. I never had a problem with either until MSN started making some serious changes . They're dropping the chat rooms, among other stuff and I manage an MSN Group and my members ( who all use various firewalls and antivirus programs) have complained about not being able to get to MSN anything.
I also can't get my MSN mail and it's part of my internet service, so I feel sure that it's NOT Zone Alarm, but rather MSN at fault here. I believe all we can do is wait until they get theirselves together again.

 

Try turning off program control in ZA and see if that works.

 

I said it doesn't work unless I completely shutdown ZA. It doesn't do anything if I turn the firewall or program control off.

 

Not sure if this will be a suitable Messenger alternative.
Maybe give Trillian a try, if you can't solve your MSN dilemma. Bazza

Today, Live Messenger, my email and my MSN group are all working for me. I made NO CHANGES in Zone Alarm Security Suite.
I still say the problem is the server...MSN.

 

I replaced ZoneAlarm with Comodo. Thanks for the help =)
