Windows Mail problem

Hi friends, I have a small problem with Windows Mail in Vista Home Premium
I deleted a contact from the address book but it won't go away. I have two Jerry's in my contacts, but deleted one of them since his was just a one time contact. Try as I may, each time I type in Jerry, his address comes up first. Checked my contacts in Yahoo Mail and Hotmail, his name is not there. How can I get rid of this entry?

Your Yahoo and Hotmail contacts are held on their servers. Your Windows Mail contacts are stored on your own computer and know nothing about Hotmail or Yahoo.

To delete a contact in Windows Mail it's Tools > Windows Contacts.

 

Thanks Earthling, I did delete the name from my contacts list as you described, that's why I'm so frustrated that it still shows up. Maybe a glitch in the program??

 

It looks as if the program remembers addresses you have used previously, and when you start typing it looks in that cache before consulting the address book. There's almost certainly a way of clearing the cache, but other than running something like CCleaner or Windows DiskCleanup I don't know - and they may not clear it either.

 

Hi again Earthling, CCleaner was the first thing I thought of, but it didn't help. Will see if Microsoft has an answer to that problem.

 

It's been a long time since I've used Outlook or Windows Live Mail, so I'm not sure if this will work. Have you tried typing "Jerry", highlighting the unwanted choice, and pressing the Delete key?
