in windows mail for vista, is there anyway to separate the email messages by account instead of having a long list for all of them?

Not that I have noticed, that you can do this via the accounts, but you can achieve this by creating Mail Rules,

What you would do is to create a new folder and name it with each accounts name ( could call them Inbox XXXX account, Inbox XXXX Account etc ) , then click Tools > Message Rules > Mail

In box 1. check Where the message is froma specified account

In Box 2. check Move it to specified folder

In Box 3. Click Specified the blue link Where the message is from the specified account and choose the email account.

Then click Specified the blue link again and choose the folder for the messages to goto.

Then Name the Rule and click OK.
