    Hi all;

Finally connected my Hauppague HVR1300 MCE but whenever I try to scan for TV Channels the whole PC freezes.

    My setup:

    ASUS A8N-E Socket 939 nForce4 Motherboard
    Athlon XP3200 CPU
    1 GB DDR RAM
    ASUS Geforce EN6600 Silent
    Haupauge HVR1300 MCE
    Maxtor 80GB SATA HDD
    LG GSA DVD RW
    Windows MCE 2005 5.1.2700.2180

I have downloaded and installed the following Nvidia Drivers:

    93.71_forceware_winxpmce_international_whql (Graphics Driver)
    6.86_nforce_win2kxp_international_whql (Motherboard Chipset Driver)
    1.02-223_purevideo_decoder_trial

The card installed OK with the drivers supplied on CD but after I encountered the problem again I downloaded Hauppauge Drivers Version 3.1g from the Hauppauge Web Site ran HW Clear and re-installed the new drivers folloing the Web Sites instructions.

I can search for the TV guide OK and select the Crystal Palace transmitter (I`m in London) but when I search for TV channels it progresses to 1% then everthing just stops (freezes up) I cannot even Ctrl Alt Delete.
This must be a Hardware / Driver problem.

I have seen posts refering to a problem with nForce 4 boards, SATA HDD`s and other TV Cards but nothing about the Hauppauge range.

Any help would be greatfully received

OK Seemed to have solved this one.

A couple of posts mention PCI Issues with newer ASUS boards.

I switched the HVR 1300 to the last PCI Slot furthest from the CPU and hey presto did a channel scan with ScanChannelsBDA_UK and it started to find channels OK.

So fired up MCE and did a successful scan and I am now watching the fith element in a minimised window.

Looks like there was a Resource Conflict funny as I have no other PCI cards whatsoever!!

I need to now learn a lot about setting it all up and pointing recording to a different drive etc.:D

    Happy again for now.
