Windows ME bootup problem

hello, im using Windows ME Home Edition and when i try to start my computer, the thing restarts before it can even go to the login screen. a similar thing happened once before and i fixed by reinstalling the OS. but it wont work this time. and i also cant get into safe mode. any help will be most appreciated.

 

woops sorry, not ME but XP. and there is this blue screen that pops up right before it restarts. its there for a split second. but it says something about windows login and it shows some letters and numbers. im am trying to write it down if it helps.

 

Sounds to me like a hardware incompatibility problem. Though that is just at first glance. Get into the CMOS and reset the BIOS to defaults and try again. if that doesn't work post your specs.

 

The letters and numbers might be a big help, post them and any error messages. Also, as Zyto suggested, tell us your system specifications and current updates. Steve
