Windows Me Problem

I booted up my computer, which is running Windows ME. It started in 640x480 resolution with 16 colors. On top of that, there was no mouse pointer on the screen at all. After I had logged in, an error message appeared which said "nWiz has caused an error in Kernel32.dll". I then tried changing the resolution to what I normally use, but when I reset the computer to have it take effect, it goes back to 640x480 resolution with 16 colors and the mouse is still unavailable. What's da problem???

 

Have you tried re-installing your video card drivers?

You can also configure your computer so that it does not require a reboot to make video changes. Its under the advanced button when edititng your video settings.

 

how do i re-install my video card drive? also...is it possible that a 256 ram that i just installed today could cause it?

 

Ohhh, geez. You just installed the RAM today? And you didn't have the problem before? If so, yes that would be the place to start. Try taking the RAM out and seeing if the problem remains.

To re-install your video card drivers, you would have to have the disc that came with the video card, or to download them from the manufacturer's website. Once you have them, you go to device manager (right click my computer, select properties and click the device manager button on the hardware tab), find your card, right click it and select properties. On the driver tab, press the update drivers button. Then, it should be as simple as following the wizards instructions, and pointing it to the location the drivers are stored.
