Windows ME Problems

Hey everyone. I joined this site to see if anyone could help me with with these different problems I am having with my computer. It is becoming worse.

1. Image saving troubles.....I cant seem to save images as jpeg's or gif files anymore. I can only save them as bmp files.
2. Notepad....It wont open anymore. I get a shortcut error everytime i try to open it. I need notepad for my scripts in msn groups and for protection.
3. Viruses & Spyware.....Cant seem to get rid of them but i have just downloaded programs like...stinger...spybot....adware...spyblaster & ccleaner.
4. Hijack this log....someone informed me to download this but I have no idea what it does. Should i?
5. Cleaning up....I have ccleaner but is there another way to REALLY REALLY REALLY get rid of all this crap on my computer? I get errors & sometimes the computer slows down.

My computer is full of problems and I would like to fix it once and for all. I am only 16 so I cant really afford none of the really good programs. Please help me out anyway you can. Thanks

You come in with a bang, Welcome to MajorGeeks.

1. Try deleteing your browsers Temporary Internet files. You can do that by selecting Tools > Options, select the General tab, and then click the Delete Files button. Now see if you can save jpeg's or gif files.

No doubt most of your problems, maybe even Notepad, could be Spyware related. My next step would be getting my computer stable. Start here, http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=35407 this will get you started on Basic Spyware, Trojan And Virus Removal. It seems overwhelming at first, but you will get the hang of it. After you have gone over all the procedures, post any questions / results in the Spyware Specific forum, http://forums.majorgeeks.com/forumdisplay.php?f=35 that's where all the expert's are and you will get alot faster response.
