windows Me

To anybody that can help, How can i go about finding a emergency boot disk for an AMD-K6(tm)-2-500cpu with windows Me? I have a Registry/Configuration error and xms cache problem.I know this is an antique do and i do not have any of the disks for this GreatGrandPapa, so if anybody can help thanks ahead of time!:c

 

If I can remember correctly, Windows Me had a system restore feature. Did you try using that. As far as an emergency boot disk, are you looking for a boot disk into DOS? That is about the only kind of boot disk I know of for Me. What are you trying to do?

 

The pc goes through the whole motions but when it gets to the windows Me page it won't load and it gives me registry/configuration error-registry file not found. thanks

 

Do you have a Windows ME install Disk? Is is possible to get into safe mode pressing F8 and then trying system restore?

 

When i get to safe mode the page is blank! The only only thing i can do is get into CMOS SETUP UTILITY PAGE.

 

Sorry, but to your ? i do not have any of the disks for this unit.

 

P.S. It tells me Boot with Emergecy Boot Disk and type ScanReg/Restore.

 

Does the method of using the Ctrl key work for you?

 

I can always get into safe mode, but i get the grey page that says safe mode on all four corners but that's it.

 

Do you need any information off of the computer? We can try to retrieve any data you may need. Do you know how much RAM this computer has? If you have an OEM like HP do you have the make and model number?

You are probably going to have to reinstall Me. Since you do not have the Install Disk, you are either going to have to purchase one on Ebay or find someone who has an install CD, possibly even a Windows 98SE install CD.

Note: that Windows 98 SE disk I linked to is for an upgrade only so it would not do you anygood.

 

Wow, I've not used ME in about 12 years. I would get media for ME or really, just install 98SE which was more stable.

 

Until now, everyone is just guessing a solution. This is a very rare problem that you are facing. I would advise you to take your system to near by repair shop.
