I have a hp pavillon 854n media center pc. I need to re-install the system and hp no longer supports it. I'm running xp 2 now but it won't recognize the tv tuner or remote. any suggestions? I downloaded the geforce drivers but they don't recognize the tv tuner either?any suggestions?

Here is a link to HP's support for your system: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/product?product=306210&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&lang=en&cc=us
Here is how to do the System Recovery: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/...c=us&lang=en&rule=20522&dlc=en&product=306210
You either have a Hauppauge or Emuzel TV Tuner card. The drivers are under downloads in the first link; but, if you don't have much that you care about (pictures, documents, etc) the System Restore is the best way to clean up everything.

Here's a link directly to the drivers for your PC. I got it by using the first link posted earlier by davis and just going a step further http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareList?os=228&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&product=306210&lang=en
While the site lists all the drivers as updates, and no 'full' drivers are listed, it's been my experience with HPs "updates" that they usually work fine as a full driver. Download the driver and instead of running the .exe, you can usually extract it (I use TUGzip, lots of folks like WinRAR and 7zip). Then, using the hardware wizard via the device manager, you point it to the extracted folder and the driver will install perfectly (most of the time). If the HP drivers don't work, try these:
    Hauppaugge TV Card http://www.snapstream.com/download/hardware/pvr-250-installation.asp
Emuzed TV Tuner http://support.gateway.com/support/drivers/search.asp?st=pn&param=6002498 (apparently, this card was installed in many OEM computers; Dell, HP, Gateway, and others have used it. Since HP didn't have a full driver that I could find, if the driver update doesn't work, try this one from Gateway).
As for the remote, I have no info on it so I can't do much there, but maybe it's included in the TV card software.

Good luck!! I hope this helps!

thanks for taking the time to research this for me. I had looked everywhere and was starting to feel lost. I extracted it as you suggested ,. the drivers installed fine, but I still cant get the tv program to start. I have comcast cable run directly into the tv card.
anyway, respects to you! I'll keep trying.

Your best bet for restoring full system functionality is to do the Sytem Recovery from my earlier post: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/...c=us&lang=en&rule=20522&dlc=en&product=306210
BUT, you had better backup any files you care about beforehand.
Short of that, I did not see any links to the TV program itself listed on HP's site; but, will give a two thumbs up for ChrisTV ( http://www.chris-tv.com/ ) The free version won't create an automatic channel listing; but, it otherwise works great.
