Windows Media Center

I am not sure if this is the right place or if I should have this posted in the hardware. I am having problems with Media Center. I am wanting to use my TV Tuner card to record VHS and convert those VHS to DVD. I have the VCR plugged into the ANT IN Co-Ax jack on the TV tuner card. When I change the channel within Media Center it will show the video that is being played by the VCR. The problem that I am having is that while it is playing the VHS the image goes in and out, in a pattern. It will show the image for 3 seconds and then it will be a black screen for 3 seconds and it will do this constantly while video is playing. If I hit stop on the VCR it will show the normal blue screen without any interruptions. The sound never stops while the screen is black I can still hear the audio. I am not sure if I just have something configured wrong within Media Center. If any of you have successfully connected your VCR to your PC to copy VHS let me know how you went about doing it. Macrovision is your problem. That's the copy-protection. You'll need special software, and may need to use another recorder other then Microsoft's.
(Microsoft's Windows Media Player is King of LEGAL spyware.)

 

I was not aware that VHS tapes had copy protection on them. The problem is though that when I am just playing them back and not trying to record or anything, the picture is on for about 3 seconds and then off for about 3 seconds and constantly cycles. The audio never stops. If I fast forward or rewind the picture will stay on the whole time. I thought that just during normal play back I would not run into any copy protection. Do you know of any software that will remove copy protection for a VHS tape?
