Windows media codecs for AVI's

Ok so i tried to search for other posts but it wouldnt do it so sorry it its already out there.

I was given a whole lot of shows from a friend and they are all AVI's and i downloaded a codec package from microsoft because it wouldnt run the files except as audio and no visual. So i downloaded 'Codec Installation Package for Windows Media Player 7.1 or later' which does this:
-Windows Media Audio 9
-Windows Media Screen 9
-Windows Media Audio 9 Voice
-Windows Media Video 7, 8, and 9
-Microsoft MPEG-4 version 3
-Microsoft MPEG-4 version 1 and 2
-ISO MPEG-4 version 1 and 1.1
I also have Media Player Version 10 so its not like its an old copy or anything, but i am still unable to watch the episodes with media player, and my friend is able to watch them in media player. So what do you guys think??

 

You probably need the DIVX codec. Download and install this and see if it helps

The New version out now has spyware.Try a free program VLC Media player.I think there is a link here.I have been using it for 6 months and it plays EVERYTHING!!!!!!!!

MajorGeeks software doesn't have spyware. Check the link, it isn't the DivX codec and player made by the divx.com website....

 

HUH? DivX and DivX Player from DivX Networks has never had spyware in it.
