First off I'm currently running Windows xp Media Center SP2 and Media Player 10 is the default installation.

I upgraded to WMP 11 in February of this year and didn't have any problems until early summer. What started happening is the entire Library would disappear and all that remained was about 15 of the playlists that I had created. When I'd try and 'add to library' nothing was on the list and when I'd try to add something nothing appeared when I closed the window I tried over and over again, closing it, rebooting and even removing my playlists from my computer, but nothing worked. I even tried for at least two weeks, installing and uninstalling WMD 11.

I like Windows Media Player 11 cause it allows me to connect to my xbox 360 easily which allows me to play music on my sound system without taking up hard drive space.

Thank you for reading I'm hear to answer questions if you have any. By the way I have several problems that spybot detected and have a list of them saved if that might help.

    Thanks again

Thank you very much I'll try this out. You have no idea how many times I tried to find this exact part of the troubleshooter but never found it.

I'll let you know if it works

Alright, that didn't help. Thank you for the assistance nontheless. I think why it didn't work is because I uninstalled it and have been using WMP 10, and when I reinstalled WMP 11 it gave me two 'Current DataBases' (shouldn't it only be one?), but anyways, I deleted both of them restored each of them individualy and still the odd fifteen playlists and a corrupt library.

Is there maybe something else I can do like clear the WMP 10?

Anybody who can help out at all I'm very willing to try anything as I'm still learning things about computers and this is a good learning curve, I think.

I find this page about WMP troubleshooting, and between the lines I find this:
If you're using a non-US locale format for your Date, the Recently Added feature won't work right (it likely won't show any content). Either go to the Regional and Language Options control panel, click Customize, click Date and use a MM/DD/YYYY form OR make your own "Recently Added" playlist.

First, every time i open WMP 11 the sharing file comes up then if I click share my files it screws up and I have to close it from the 'Task Manager'. What I have to do to get into the library to start with is click 'OK' then 'Close'.

When I cleared the CurrentDatabase it removed the currupt playlists completely, but I still can't add any files (which I've tried at least a hundred time today alone). It won't add them automaticly either, curretly there are are no files on the 'Add to Media Player List' nothing but blank white. when I add a file source 'My Music' it'll show everything in that blank white window that it should until I click 'OK', then instead of adding things to my library nothing happens and when I go back the 'Add to Media Library' it's the same thing over blank white screen. I feel like I'm in a bad 80s horror movie, or the twilight zone.

So far it's working!!! I added files to the Library (manually) This is what I used from that link that you provided:

Q: How do I rebuild a broken Media Library?

In WMP11 on XP, the library is per user and can be found at "%USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Media Player\CurrentDatabase_360.wmdb". In some extreme cases (such as when you can not add any folders to be scanned in the supplied dialog) you would need to shut down WMP and stop the "Window Media Player Network Sharing Service". Then you would need to rename the folder "%USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Media Player". At that point WMP should work correctly again.

The only thing is I hope I can use Sharing again, the thing that I had to do ultimatly was rename the folder which contained the DataBase.

I also uninstalled Nero 7 and DivX, I don't know if this had an affect or not, but I don't use them it doesn't matter that they're gone.

Thanks a lot and if it stops working within the week I'll repost on this thread, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it'll keep working.

    Thanks Again Goran!
