windows media player 11 shows ALL my files!!!

hi, i was wondering if anyone can tell me how i can stop windows media player 11 from displaying all picture and video files in the "library"tab?

i've tried all the options on the help guide and it still just keeps popping up with everything on my pc!!!!!!

this will not help me with the missus!! rolleyes

any insight would be great, thanks

In WMP 9 you delete the large file shown in the screen shot. It is located here C:\Documents and Settings\"user name here"\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Media Player. (It sounds like you did a search for all media files on the computer). I checked on the pc w/WMP11 on it...On WMP 9 the file is named: CurrentDatabase_59R.wmdb
On WMP 11 the file is named :
CurrentDatabase_360.wmdb
You can do a Search for it from the Start Menu
If you delete the file it will empty your library and you will need to do a search for media files again, it will then be recreated with the files from your new search. The original will be in the recycle bin if you change your mind. Funny I did this today after reattaching an external drive as its drive letter had changed so WMP couldn't find the music files. As with everything else in Windows, there are other ways of doing it, but that one worked well.

postscript: on the pc with WMP 11 I had to reboot after deleting CurrentDatabase_360.wmdb to get the chanes to take effect.

 

thanks for the advice but it doesn't help i'm afraid, as soon as the cache is cleared it just says windows media player is searching for files then just starts popping up one by one with more links!

i've got all the options to do this turned off in the player i think!
