Windows Media Player 11

I am running Windows xp home edition on my computer. It originally came with media player 9. At the beginning of fall, I downloaded player10. Friday, I received a notice that player11 was ready to download to replace player 10.
I let it download but when I went to burn from the library I was unable. I tried to get media player online and troubleshoot online but it would not connect. l then received a message would I like to go back to my previous version. I said yes but it reverted back to version 9. I could not find version 10. I then went to microsoft to download 10 but when I tried to install it I received an error message that I could not use this version on my computer. How can I get version 10 back or get version 11 to work on my computer.

 

Uninstall all versions you currently have, reboot, then download from here

That is abbreviation for Windows MEdia ...this player if for all Windows versions.

I tried to uninstall the media player in the control panel. I don't see the media player there but if I look in my program files I have numerous media player files including versions 10 and 11. version 9 has components but I cannot use that either. How can I uninstall all of these files? Thank you in advance.
