Call me stupid or way too picky. But is it too much to as for the following out of a music player…..If you know how to do this (a setting or something) or of a music player that has this feature, let me know. I’d love to use it.

When I select all the music files to play….I want to just show the FileName. The true FileName. As I have saved it. I don’t want it to create a FAKE FileName by showing me Artist Name, Song Name, Genre, Track, or Star Rating (as the latest Media Player 11 incorporates) any other dumb stupid category or TAG.

I DO NOT take the time to go into my File PROPERTIES and complete all the necessary documentation for this to be accurate. I have a Big Problem with finding and deleting and editing my music on the fly while I’m listening to it. I have Windows Explorer and the Media Player (listening to music) open at the same time. I hear something I don’t like that’s on my PC and want to delete it, then Can’t find the damn thing because Media Player is not showing me the File Name. Or there is a song that I actually want to hear first, but can’t find it in Media Player because it’s not called the same thing (The real friggin FileName). Or is it just too much to ask for my songs I’ve highlighted to just play in the order that I have them on my PC. FileName.

I’ve tried Media Player, WinAmp, and they both won’t allow you to see the FileName. This is the exact problem I have with using something like iTunes, Zune, or any other player that uses some stupid software program that forgets the basics. Just want to drop and drag my files and see them the same as they really are (FileName). Don’t won’t them to be all out of order (because the software decided to call them something different). If my MUSIC is to be called something different, I will tell it that I want to call it something different, and then dictate the naming schema. I want Control of my Music Player…on my PC and any other portable device. This auto naming schema is as dumb if not dumber than the autosync feature that some users encounter using iTunes & Zune in which all music is lost when they hook it up to a PC. STUPID STUPID.

I just want to do my organization my filename. True filename. And I want to play by filename. True filename. It’s not that I think the other descriptive tag fields should not be there or used. I think it’s great to have them. But Let me decide if I want to use them or not. That’s all. I may want to keep up with my music this way or not. I choose not. It’s time consuming, error prone, and dumb. Incidently, this is exactly how the new cars that has the voice command player in them works. If I say play artist “Ashley Simposn” and someone didn’t take the time to fill her name in the descriptive Artist tag field, then the car would never recognize that I have this song. If you go into all the tag fields and delete them all, which I just tested, then Media Player will actually show the file name, cause it has no other choice. However, look at how the above Media Player listed my songs. What’s the order? Who the Hell knows. It’s not alphabetical or numerical.

Sorry to rant....I just want to see my music File Names. How do I ? Anyone who may know, I would appreciate it.

I believe you can customize Winamp to do exactly that.
