windows media player help???

I have a Dell laptop (older one) it had 98se on it I upgradeed it to xp everything works just fine except windows media player. It plays music just fine but will not play videos. I tried to update it and it still does the same thing. It aslo has a DVD rom but it will not play DVDs anymore either. Please Help Thank in advance. Bobby

Well, I would not have upgraded the OS with only 128MB of memory. I suspect that's at least part of the problem. And, what are the video specs for that laptop? How system memory is allocated to the video function/adapter?

Have you investigated the possibility of installing more memory?

 

What do you mean by 'will not play'? What happens? More info......

I dont know what kind of video card i have. where can i find out? when it plays i can hear sound just no picture. thank you in advance Bobby
